HiTUS introduces new process potential, providing the opportunity to develop new and improved coatings. Higher efficiency sputter processes allow coating of temperature sensitive substrates (and use of ‘difficult’ target materials). Inherent “plasma assist” to the coating process delivers the critical properties of high adhesion and low stress in coatings. Inherent plasma interaction with precursor materials and additive gases enables fully stable “reactive sputter” processes to produce high throughput compound coatings, e.g. dielectrics and TCOs.
